Mike Konrad has been the Times' Hernando County editor since 1990. Prior to that, he worked as a metro copy editor in St. Petersburg. Mike grew up in Illinois and worked for three newspapers in that state before he grew tired of the snow, ice and gray skies of Midwest winters. He was a news and sports reporter at the Effingham Daily News, a news reporter and assistant city editor at the Decatur Herald & Review and managing editor at the Southern Illinoisan in Carbondale. He received his journalism degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mike currently lives in Brooksville. He is a clarinet player in the Hernando Symphony Orchestra.
